SEATTLE - The Coast Guard is searching for a missing boater in the vicinity of Fox Island, Wash.

At 7:40 p.m. Thursday, the Coast Guard in Seattle received a call about a male boater who had struggled with rowing his boat before it sank.

A witness apparently watched the struggle from land and said that the boater was wearing a white jacket.

It's not known if the boater was wearing a life jacket.

An MH-65C Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., and a 25-foot response boat crew from Station Seattle were launched to conduct a search for the missing man.

A Tacoma Police Department boat crew and a Washington State Patrol air crew also responded to help with the search.

Anyone with information about the missing boater is asked to contact Coast Guard Sector Seattle at 206-217-6001.
