SEATTLE – A missing elderly man with dementia that was reportedly found on Wednesday morning in Marysville is still missing.

In a statement, Community Transit said one of its drivers had found 79-year-old Hilmer Jager of Shoreline Wednesday morning.

“He recognized Jager - who had been missing for about five days - from a missing person poster provided to Community Transit,” wrote the transit agency in a press release. “He called the agency's dispatch, which then notified the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Transit Police. A deputy then contacted the man and determined it was Jager.”

But about 90 minutes after that announcement, the King County Sheriff’s Office, which has led the investigation, says the man who was found by the bus driver was not Jager.

A spokesperson for Community Transit now says the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office also confirms that the man who was located was not Jager. The man who was found had only been reported missing earlier in the day.

Jager has been missing since last Friday.
