Gasoline siphoning leads to fire

11:12 AM PDT on Wednesday, August 27, 2008

By KING5.com Staff

AUBURN, Wash. - An Auburn man was not injured when a fire broke out as he attempted to siphon gasoline from a five-gallon drum using an electric vacuum cleaner.

The Valley Regional Fire Authority says the man was trying to siphon the gas into his van at a townhome on 107th Place S.E.

The fire spread under the van and on to the adjoining garage and townhouse.

The occupants of the home attempted to contain the fire until firefighters arrived. The townhouse had minor damage but the van was a total loss.
