SEATTLE – It is one of the hottest tickets in town, but some theatergoers who showed up at the Paramount Theatre thinking they would see Young Frankenstein found themselves in a real life horror show when they found out their tickets were fakes.

"They're shocked, and we're really sorry and we worked really hard to get them a fresh ticket," said Josh LaBelle of Seattle Theatre Group.

The musical version of the Mel Brook's hit movie has people lining up at the box office. STG reports "extraordinary demand" for tickets to the show, and as Luke Reynolds found out, there are good seats available.

"I apparently got great seats second mezzanine, first row of that for this coming Tuesday," said Reynolds.

"It is not illegal to resell tickets.  Where it gets tricky is that some of these re-sellers are designing their websites in a manner that it looks like the Paramount, or the Moore's or KeyArena's for that matter," said LaBelle.

The Seattle Theatre Group says the real problem is a lack of local government regulation, and until that changes, their best advice to make sure you'll see the show is to know where you are buying the ticket.

It says theatre-goers should be cautious of third party ticket vendors who charge two to four times the regular price of tickets while regulary-priced passes are still available at official ticket outlets

Buyers are urged to purchase their tickets at official outlets, including the Paramount Theatre official Web site, the Paramount Theatre Box Office, The Moore Theatre official Web site and the Moore Theatre Box office. Tickets are also available at the Ticketmaster Outlets or by calling 206-292-ARTS (2787).
