NEAR WOODINVILLE, Wash. – Traffic was delayed on SR 9 between Maltby and Woodinville today after four traffic signals were knocked down at the intersection with 228th Street SE.

Officials from Washington State Patrol said it was a hit-and-run.

A commercial boom truck designed to pick up and recycle wood debris didn't have the boom down all the way down, and it knocked down the stop lights.

"The boom was sticking up, that ripped out four or five traffic lights and a couple of traffic cameras," said Trooper Keith Leary, of Washington State Patrol. "And then he kept on going."

The state patrol says the driver called the Department of Transportation to report the damage a half mile up the road.

Nobody was hurt, but a wood recycling company is being asked to pay for the damage.

Collisions between trucks and stoplights, and bridges happen with some regularity on Washington's highways, and when they do, the state goes after the insurance or other assets of companies to pay for the damage.

"These traffic cameras and these lights, this is a brand new set up to install, so this is going to quite expensive for that company," Leary said.
