SEATTLE - A memorial service will be held Sunday for the 60-year-old South Seattle man killed while watering a neighborhood traffic circle.

James Paroline's sister, Virginia Goodwin, is helping plan the service. She wants it to be a positive reflection of his life.

Paroline, a decorated Vietnam veteran, was killed nine days ago as he watered the flowers in the traffic circle out in front of his house.

He got into a confrontation with some young women upset that he was partially blocking traffic.

Twenty-eight-year-old Brian Brown allegedly delivered the fatal punch that killed him.

"It wasn't just a lucky punch," said Virginia Goodwin, Paroline's sister. "It wasn't just an 'I'm gonna break his nose' type punch."

Goodwin said the punch was more brutal than anyone can imagine.

"His nose was broken, his jaw was broken," she said. "His eyes were bulging because the bones that support his brain were broken."

60-year-old James Paroline was killed during a confrontation at a neighborhood traffic circle.

Brown turned himself in earlier this week. He's charged with second-degree murder in Paroline's death. He is being held on half a million dollars bail and will be arraigned on July 28.

"This is a very dangerous person and we're relieved he won't be able to hurt anybody again," Goodwin said.

Tomorrow's memorial service will be at the traffic circle. Police will block off the street.

It starts at 3 p.m. at the corner of South 61st and Cooper.

The family encourages people from other neighborhoods to attend.
