Pierce County offers free gas for tips catching most wanted

TACOMA, Wash. - There's a new gas incentive for you if you help catch a crook.

Pierce County Crime Stoppers already offers a $1,000 reward for a legitimate tip. Now they're giving out a $250 gas card on top of that to tipsters who help them catch the 50 most wanted people in the county.

It's an unusual tactic - giving away gas for criminals. But consumers say it gets their attention and they like the idea.

"That would be really helpful to a lot of people, with gas being $4 going up to almost $5," said one Tacoma driver.

On the Pierce County Crime Stoppers Web site, there are 15 pages of information on the wanted criminals. To receive the free gas, the tips must apply to the top 50 most wanted.
