The man in his 30s fell about 100 feet just before 11 a.m.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said a cell phone caller reported the accident and said a doctor and a paramedic were in the climbing party and providing assistance to the man, who was conscious.

Sheriff's spokesman Detective Jim Strovink said the climbers were in the vicinity of "Devil's Kitchen," which lies at about 10,000 feet.

At about 3:30, the climber was hoisted from the mountain and was taken to Portland's Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

Deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team and the Reach and Treat Team aided in the rescue.
