SEATTLE – One of Seattle's most famous musicians is in danger of losing her home.

Friends and family are rallying to keep Ernestine Anderson's Central District home from going into foreclosure.

Anderson came out of Seattle with music legends Ray Charles and Quincy Jones back in the 1940s. She is a four-time Grammy nominee who has recorded more than 30 albums.

Anderson is 79 now and like many people, she is fighting debt and back taxes to hold onto her home.

"Since 1946 I've been going out on the road, but this is home base," she said.

Unless enough money is raised, her home will be auctioned July 11.

"In order to keep Miss Anderson in her home the immediate need is by Monday, June 30, we need $44,000 to stop the foreclosure notice," said Carmen Gayton, family friend.

An account has been set up at the Bank of America. Donations can be made at any branch.

In 2004 Anderson was honored by the Pacific Northwest chapter of the Recording Academy with an IMPACT award for contributing to the Northwest's musical legacy.

"I can't tell you how wonderful people have been to me – friends and people that I don’t know," she said.
