TUKWILA, Wash. - A multiple-vehicle rollover accident on northbound Interstate 5 in Tukwila caused a major backup during the morning commute.

Four cars and a pickup truck were involved in the accident, which occurred shortly after 7 a.m. at the point where Interstate 405 merges into I-5 at Southcenter.

TrafficKING

Medical crews tend to an injured person in a multiple-vehicle rollover accident on Interstate 5 in Tukwila, Wash.

A view from TrafficKING showed the pickup truck flipped over and laying on its top.  A camper shell, apparently from the truck, was at the side of the road and a maroon colored car with major front-end damage was pulled over on the shoulder of the highway.

The right lane of I-5 was blocked, as well as the on-ramp from Southcenter Boulevard to northbound I-5.

Traffic quickly backed up for miles, at one point stretching from as far south as Lakewood to the accident scene.

One motorist said it took about 40 minutes to travel the distance between Auburn and the accident scene, a drive that usually takes about 15 minutes.

At least two ambulances were called to the scene, but there was no word on how many people were injured or the extent of their injuries.
