A pair of tires that fell off a semi on northbound I-5 in Seattle on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 are loaded onto a trailer.
SEATTLE – Twice in as many days and for the fourth time in a month, tires have fallen off a truck on the freeway. For the first time, the tires bounced away harmlessly.
The tires fell off a semi truck traveling north on I-5 at Michigan Street, according to the Washington State Patrol. The truck was in the far right lane, so the tires rolled off to the shoulder. No other cars were hit.
It's still not clear why the truck lost its tires.
On May 11, a Bothell man was killed after a semi lost its entire wheel assembly on northbound I-5 in Tukwila and crashed into the man's van.
Two days later, several cars were hit on I-90 near Fall City after a truck lost its tires.
And Tuesday, another semi lost its tires on I-90 in Issaquah. One tire hit another car, but the driver was not hurt. The second tire flew into the roof of a home near Lake Sammamish State Park causing some damage.
