LOS ANGELES – The next "American Idol" may be Bothell's own Blake Lewis.
But it won't be the judge's favorite, Melinda Doolittle.
Nearly 60 million fans voted Lewis and Glendale, Arizona's Jordin Sparks into next week's finals.
Not enough people supported professional back-up singer Doolittle to send her to the final round.
Doolittle had been one of the judges' favorites. On Tuesday night's show, Simon Cowell said Doolittle was the one person who deserved to be in the finals.
The three contestants had to sing a song the judges chose, one the producers chose and one they chose themselves.

Cowell picked "Wishing on a Star" by Rose Royce for Sparks. He admitted that even though it was his choice and she sang it "brilliantly," he wished they hadn't chosen what he called the "weird jazz arrangement."
Paula Abdul chose "Roxanne" for Lewis, and Cowell said it was imitative without being earth-shattering.
Things were better for Doolittle. Randy Jackson picked "I Believe In You and Me" for her, and he said she "blew it out the box."
Lewis did better on the producer's choice, "This Love" by Maroon 5.
Jackson thought Sparks' version of "I Who Have Nothing" was "very, very hot," but Cowell called it old-fashioned.
Doolittle's choice was "Woman," and Cowell complimented her on "the little striptease" because she tossed off her jacket.
