One retailer – naturalbabyhome.com of Ohio -- saw sales of its 8-ounce glass bottles jump from 100 a month to 1,300 a month.
PORTLAND -- Mom Linda Welsh is going retro to safeguard the health of her son, Julian.
She's using glass baby bottles after learning hard plastic ones leach a chemical called BPA.
A report from Environment California says BPA -- bisphenol-a -- is a toxin that has been linked to abnormalities in the reproductive organs and eggs of lab animals and may lead to cancer.
"I want to make sure that the breast milk that I am giving him is free from contaminants like the BPAs," Welsh said.

Environment California tested five brands of polycarbonate baby bottles -- Avent, Dr. Brown's, Evenflo, Gerber and Playtex -- and found that every brand leached BPA at a level found to cause harm in lab animals.
While industry representatives and the Food and Drug Administration say the plastic bottles are safe, worried parents aren't taking any chances.
St. Vincent Hospital in Portland ordered a large shipment of glass bottles after parents wiped out the last supply.
"People are waiting for the shipments so we are very fortunate to have a large quantity available," said Doris Onnis, a lactation nurse.
The city of San Francisco went so far as to ban children's products containing bisphenol-a.
It's being sued by manufacturers and retailers. The city is reconsidering the ban.
The rush to buy glass bottles has led to shortages in some cities.
