FERNDALE, Wash. -- A story that first aired on KING 5 two weeks ago has put a Ferndale City Council member at odds with the mayor of that city, Jerry Landcastle.

In an interview with KING 5 north bureau chief Rob Piercy, council member Keith Olson described Landcastle's management style as "tyrannical."

After the interview aired, the mayor tried to get the council to formally censure Olson for his comments.

Interviewed by a Bellingham newspaper, Olson said his statement was taken out of context.

KING 5 stands by its original report, which was about why the mayor fired a city administrator.

KING 5's Rob Piercy: "How would you describe his style?"

Keith Olson: "Well, let's see, we're on TV so I have to keep it clean. Uh, very tyrannical. He's like a tyrant. He just doesn't … it's his way or the highway. He operates committee meetings that way that I have attended. And he's treated me in the same way, except I don't tolerate it."

At Monday night's Ferndale City Council meeting, Landcastle withdrew his censure request.
