GRANITE FALLS, Wash. - Thursday is May 1, but on the last day of April there was more snow in some areas.

About nine miles east of Granite Falls in the community of Verlot, Jon Bodily woke up to several inches of snow Wednesday morning as he prepared his truck to go back out on the road.

"It was just snowing, and it kept snowing and snowing and snowing," he said. "I've lived here for seven years, and it's never been this late."

In many places we saw snow levels drop late Tuesday.

Pictures taken near Mount Baker snow fresh snow, and the snow is again messing up the roads in some places.

At Snoqualmie Pass, there were more closures for avalanche control. The Department of Transportation had thought they were done with it last weekend.

White Pass will remain on a winter schedule until May 19. Usually they're done by April 15.

Along the Mountain Loop Highway and its tributaries, a Snohomish County snow plow that should have gone into summer hibernation was back out on the roads.

"And this is this global warming?" said driver John Eisenberg.

Asked if he thinks the worst is over, Eisenberg said "No. I don't count on anything anymore."

Blame it on the cold ocean waters of La Nina, blame it on a fluke ... we're all just waiting for it to be over.

And despite all this, the Washington DOT still expects to re-open the North Cascades Highway at 8 a.m. Thursday.
