Emergency vehicles surround an Alaska Airlines 737-400 that was evacuated after smoke filled the flight deck at Sea-Tac Airport on Thursday, April 17, 2008.

SEATAC, Wash. – Two Alaska Airlines passengers and a pilot were treated Thursday morning after their plane was evacuated due to smoke on the flight deck.

Alaska Flight 529 arrived at Sea-Tac Airport from Los Angeles just after 9 a.m. An airline spokesperson says the 737-400 with 103 passengers on board landed safely, but as the plane was taxiing toward the terminal, the pilots reported smoke on the flight deck and ordered an emergency evacuation. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says evacuation chutes were deployed on the taxiway and no major injuries were reported. A couple of passengers complained of ankle injuries, one had a neck problem and the first officer in the cockpit was treated for smoke inhalation.

Fergus says the pilot reported a potential nose gear problem while approaching the Airport, but everything appeared OK on a fly-by past the airport control tower. He says the smoke problem arose after the plane was on the ground.

It's not immediately clear what caused the smoke.
