REDMOND, Wash. - Arson investigators were on the scene of a morning two-alarm fire at a downtown Redmond medical building.

The building houses a pediatric dentist, an orthodontist and eye care centers.

An arson dog moved in to sniff out clues into what or who may have started the fire at the Bear Creek Professional Center.

The building houses The Children's Eye Doctors, The Family Eye Doctors; Woodlawn Optical of Redmond; David Atherton Pediatric Dentistry; and Stanley Gile Orthodontics.

The suite for the Children's Eye Doctors had the bulk of the fire damage.

"I'm a receptionist with the children's eye doctor so they've just told us we'll be out the rest of the week," said Susan Heideman.

The fire broke out around 6 a.m. Firefighters swiftly doused the flames and realized the fire may not have been accidental.

"When it's an accident, you can usually tell and there are a couple of clues leading us to believe it's suspicious," said Jim Bove of the Redmond Police Dept.

Doctors were hoping to get inside to access their appointment books so they could contact their patients and tell them not to come in today.  Unfortunately, because of the potential crime scene, only investigators were allowed inside.

Which is why patients like Elizabeth Woolf and her son were still arriving to appointments their doctors couldn't keep.

"So we drove around and we saw this and then we parked over here and had to come find out what was going on," she said.

It turns out the building was vandalized a few weeks ago, but the building manager said he doesn't know who would cause this kind of damage intentionally.

"No, I can't come up with anybody, no," he said.

Police are asking to see if any of those businesses have surveillance video that could help in the investigation.
