SEATTLE - A worker at the Sound Transit construction site in south Seattle says Wednesday's fatal accident did not have to happen.
One man died and another was hurt after an out-of-control train collided outside Sound Transit's light rail tunnel through Beacon Hill.
"I know the fella that was killed, and maybe I can save another life," said the Sound Transit worker.
The worker, who wants his identity kept secret for fear of losing his job, says he's not surprised by the accident. He knew something horrible would happen at the Sound Transit site.
"Fellow workers and I have talked about it, we've predicted it for the last year and a half," said the worker.

The worker, who wants his identity kept secret for fear of losing his job, says he knew something horrible would happen at the Sound Transit site.
Those predictions rang true Wednesday morning. A small train used to ferry heavy supplies into the Beacon Hill tunnel couldn't stop and slammed into a parked locomotive. One man was killed, another man injured.
It's not the first time one of the tunnel cars had problems. On October 27, 2006, Sound Transit documents show the brakes on one rail car failed, picked up speed and flew off the track. Workers suffered broken bones and bruises.
Sound Transit then sent a memo to the contractor Obayashi, saying it was very concerned.
But the state never investigated. It is now and trying to determine whether October's brake failure is related to Wednesday's crash.
"He went to work. He didn't go home. He's gonna be in a box," said the worker.
The King County Medical Examiner's officer is performing an autopsy on the worker who was killed to find out exactly how he died.
Obayashi, the construction company in charge of the site, has expressed sympathy to the victim's family and promised to work with local authorities to determine the accident's cause.
