Boil-water advisory ends for some South Bend residents

03:50 PM PST on Sunday, January 11, 2009

KING5.com Staff

SOUTH BEND, Wash. - A boil-water advisory has ended for most customers of the South Bend Water System in Pacific County. About 35 homes in the Baleville area should continue to boil their water until tests confirm it's safe to drink; other South Bend residents may immediately begin to use their water.

The Department of Health issued the advisory Thursday after an 80-foot section of water main was destroyed, cutting off the town's water supply. The community arranged to get water from the City of Raymond.

The advisory was issued as a precaution because contaminants could have been drawn into water lines when the water main broke. Tests have confirmed the water is safe to drink, but additional testing is needed for customers in the Baleville area. Those customers be notified when their water is safe to drink.

Customers with questions about the advisory can call 360-875-5571.
