OLYMPIA, Wash. - Washington residents are being asked to boil their drinking water in response to storm-related problems.

Statewide, more than 8,000 people are affected by boil-water advisories and nearly 900 have no water service at all.

A boil-water advisory has been issued for about 200 homes in Kalama because of problems at a water treatment plant.

Boil orders also are in place for some homes in the cities of Snohomish, Monroe, Morton, South Bend, Naselle and Pe Ell.

The state Health Department has lifted the boil order for the town of Albion in Whitman County.

Private well-owners whose property is flooded are also being advised to switch to bottled, disinfected or boiled water.
