SEDRO WOOLLEY, Wash. - A private helicopter crashed on a logging road south of Lyman in Skagit County Thursday afternoon.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the aircraft went down at Potts Road and South Skagit Highway.

Reports from the scene said the pilot, identified as Anthony Reese, was doing some logging work, picking up cedar blocks, when at about 140 feet in the air, the helicopter's engine stopped and the aircraft, a Hughes 500-D, fell to the ground.

The private helicopter crashed in Skagit County.

Reese was able to walk away from the crash. He was the only person onboard the helicopter.

Reese was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon where he was undergoing tests.

"He's got some breaks in his back that they can't handle here, so they said they'll take him to Harborview," said Sue Reese, his wife.

Reese was listed in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center Thursday evening.
