The site of the Olympia Brewery in Tumwater, Wash. may be re-developed into a shopping mall.

TUMWATER, Wash. - The old Olympia Beer brewery that has been closed since 2003 may be the next mall coming to Tumwater.

A Bellevue developer has plans to build a 500,000-square-foot shopping mall at the site.

Mon Wig, owner of Wig Properties LLC, told the Tumwater City Council he is in discussions with the property owner about building a shopping center there. There is a question whether the city will allow construction on the property because it's within the 100 year floodplain.

"Nothing is final yet," said Wig, "It's just in the early stages of development."

Wig did say any plans would include the historic brewhouse.

"We'll try to preserve that building," said Wig.
