EVERETT, Wash. – Three men whose boat capsized while they were crabbing in Possession Sound Wednesday were pulled from the water by Good Samaritans.

Police say their 16-foot boat overturned Wednesday morning, and a visitor at Howarth Park spotted the men clinging to its edge. That visitor called 9-1-1 and flagged down another boat for help getting them out of the water.

"One gentleman had a life jacket on, the other two did not," said Robert Goetz, a spokesperson for Everett police. "They were in the water for an estimated 30 minutes, and 30 minutes is a long time in this water."

The men told police the rope of their crab pot had wrapped around the boat's propeller, causing the boat to flip.

Police say what happened to them should be a reminder to everyone to wear life vests.

"If you are out on a boat and it capsizes, get on top the capsized boat. Get out of that cold water," Goetz said.
