EVERETT, Wash. - Trial may start next month in Snohomish County Superior Court for a Puyallup teen accused in the drug death of a classmate.

The 18-year-old, Donalydia Huertas, is charged with controlled substance homicide and manslaughter. She's accused of giving the drug Ecstasy to 16-year-old Danielle McCarthy that killed her on New Year's 2007, after a night of partying.

Prosecutors moved the case to adult court after Huertas refused a plea bargain that would have kept her in state custody until the age of 21. If convicted in superior court she could get a 6-to-8-year prison sentence.

A man who sold the drug to Huertas pleaded guilty in January to controlled substance homicide and is awaiting sentencing.
