Weyerhaeuser, Chevron form wood fuel joint venture

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Weyerhaeuser and Chevron have formed a joint venture to develop fuel for cars and trucks from wood fiber.

In a statement Friday the companies say Catchlight Energy is a 50-50 venture that will use funding, employees and resources from both the Federal Way wood products company and the San Ramon, Calif., oil company.

The initial focus will be demonstrating technology for converting cellulose and lignin into biofuels.
