Lynnwood woman gets help with her tree troubles
01:24 PM PDT on Wednesday, June 25, 2008
LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Valerie Wearne paid 24/7 Tree Service more than $1,800 to cut a tree down, cut the wood into 16-inch pieces, chip the branches and make the stump ground level.
The crew did half the work and took a break. That break lasted nearly three weeks.
You can see by the stump and the left over branches, not much has been done since, so Valerie made a lot of calls, trying to end the world's longest lunch.
"Then I started to get a little angry about it and he wouldn't return calls," she said.

The brush is gone, the stump has been cut down, the tree service has finally finished the job. They're even offering to grind the stump free of charge.
So Valerie called us, and we got ahold of the owner of 24/7.
Mark Kowal, 24/7's business owner, agreed to meet us at Valerie's home.
Lunch was finally over. Mark gave some of the money back and promised to get the work done.
"I'm going to chip that brush for free because I feel bad this thing happened," he said.

Mark promised to have it all done by last weekend.
Valerie says he came through and she's very happy with the work.
