Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate the women in our life that love and nurture us every day.  Mother’s have to be creative to manage their daily lives while simultaneously raising children.  In recognition of their creativity, surprise them with something more unique than a bouquet of flowers this year.  Here are a few of my favorite ideas!

For the traveling mom:

For the working mom:

Try counting the number of times mom packed your lunch in your lifetime?  Surprise her and leave a lunch packed for her to take to work the Friday before Mother’s Day with a note letting her know that you are looking forward to spending time with her that Sunday.  Forget the brown paper bag and pack her lunch in a stylish and colorful suitcase from the Paper Source ($12.00).  Make lunch feel extra special by wrapping her sandwich in brown paper and tying it with a wax ribbon.  Add a dishtowel trimmed in a colorful ribbon.  It just takes a second to stitch a ribbon to an ordinary dishtowel and mom will be impressed.

Encourage mom to throw an impromptu party by creating a party in a box.  Select a box or container that can double as a centerpiece or even container for a flower arrangement. I love the selection of boxes at the Paper Source!  Thinking about the color palette, select ribbon that coordinates with the centerpiece.  Wrap the ribbon around four luxurious hemstitched napkins and finish the napkin rings off with a brass buckle.  Include a set of candlesticks and candles, and include place cards that coordinate as well.  In a second mom’s table setting is complete.  

For the mom who loves accessories:

For the mom always on the go and in the car:
