SEATTLE – A woman was critically injured when her clothes caught fire in her apartment in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

Fire officials say a neighbor saw the woman on fire on a balcony and called 911.

The neighbor tried to run into the apartment to help but it was locked.

Firefighters had to force entry into apartment. The woman was talking when she was brought out but all her clothes had been burned off.

She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition with burns over 90 percent of her body.

A dog in the apartment was not hurt.

My heart goes out to you and your family. It's so sad to lose an Auntie....

This was my Aunt ... and yes she did die. The reason the puppy lived is she opted to throw him in the bathroom before she tried to get help for herself. She was filling a lighter ( and was legally blind ) and it exploded. She was my Aunt, and a great woman, and a hero for saving her beloved dog and the entire Condo complex at the cost of her own life.

Maybe it was not known how her clothes caught fire, at the time this report was posted. Perhaps cooking, burning candles, or smoking? Anyway, she should have rolled around on the floor to put the fire out.... Not run out on the balcony. The dog is OK because he was on the floor.

Okay seriously King5 reporters need to take lessons on how to write reports... Did her clothes magically catch on fire? At least you guys got the important stuff... Like that the dog walked away unharmed. Nice work. Poor lady, hope she is okay.

How awful! If she lives, the pain of recovery will be almost unbearable. Prayers for her recovery.

Awful way to die. Very rare to survive 90% burns. What happened?
