OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Gov. Chris Gregoire and British Columbia Premier Christy Clark have signed an agreement to conduct a cross-border earthquake readiness exercise.

They signed the agreement at the Capitol Friday during a visit from Clark and several members of her Cabinet.

Gregoire said that the cross-border neighbors need to "ready ourselves for a catastrophic earthquake or even a minor earthquake." Gregoire said they may also ask Alaska to participate.

The state's top emergency management leader, Maj. Gen. Timothy Lowenberg, says that that the first exercise would take place June 5 and 6, with other events in June and August.

He says that Gregoire and Clark and other heads of state will engage in regional coordination on earthquake response.

Anything Gregoire is involved in is suspicious.
