OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Private-sector job growth has pushed Washington's unemployment rate to the lowest point since February 2009, officials said Wednesday.

The Employment Security Department said the drop to 8.7 percent unemployment in November came with the state adding 12,100 jobs. The jobless rate was down from 9.1 percent in October.

"This is the kind of job growth we need to make a good dent in the unemployment rate," said Greg Weeks, director of the Employment Security Department's labor-market information office, in a statement.

The state has added jobs in 13 of the past 14 months, but it has usually come in smaller chunks.

The November numbers show growth across much of the private sector. The professional and business services sector added 4,200 jobs. Leisure and hospitality grew by 3,800. Construction was up 2,000 jobs.
Government posted a slight decline in jobs.

More than 300,000 people in Washington were unemployed and looking for work in October, according to the Employment Security Department. As of Saturday, some 68,000 workers had exhausted their unemployment benefits.

Washington's numbers followed the national trend for November. The U.S. unemployment rate dropped from 9 percent to 8.6 percent.

Well, let's see. It is the Holidays, where hiring people for a month is most prevalent and most of the unemployes people have run out of benefits. This has to be the most inacurate piece of drivel to date.

Construction will never be back where it was or at least for a very long time. People are disallusioned about the house buying process with all that has happened. Couple that with the job insecurity and most of the buyers are investors picking up rentals. And come on this isn't Obama's problem it is all of ours and from what I see the only party not willing to work to help put people back to work are the republicans. They are only interested in regaining power plain and simple. Dump the insane trade deals, pull out of the IMF and roll back the tax cuts since 1980 and we might have a chance because if we don't start making things here again nothing will ever change.

And once the Christmas season is over you will see it plummet back down to what it was two months ago..

Ya, the numbers look good when you don't count people that have run out of unemployment benefits. Last time I looked unemployment in construction was still in the teens.
