SEATTLE – Seattle’s beloved “Peanut Man,” Rick Kaminski has died, his partner, Candi Mindt-Keener, announced Wednesday.
Kaminski died overnight at Evergreen Medical Center due to complications from a brain aneurysm. He was 67.
"He died very peacefully and he had no pain. His biggest pain now is not being with his fans and his community as he loved all his fans very very much," Mindt-Keener said.
Known as 'The Peanut Man' by Mariners fans, Kaminski had worked at Mariners games since 1977.
He was well-known for his pinpoint accuracy when tossing the peanuts.
"On behalf of everyone at the Seattle Mariners, our deepest sympathies go out to Rick Kaminski's partner Candy, his family, his many friends, and fans," Mariners President Chuck Armstrong said in a statement.
Armstrong said Kaminski's speed and accuracy with a bag of peanuts was matched by his quick wit and smile.
"He always seemed happy to see you, even if he was meeting you for the first time. Rick loved what he did and the fans loved him for it. He will be sorely missed at Safeco Field as well as Peoria, Arizona, where he got in his 'Spring Training' along with everyone else."
Mindt-Keener said anybody who wants to do something in Rick's name and memory can make donations to their local Boys and Girls Clubs or the Children's Diabetes Foundation..
