COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina state senators have approved an economic incentive package that appears tailored to bring a massive Boeing assembly facility to North Charleston.

Lawmakers on Tuesday OK'd lower-interest construction bonds and incentives that include a sales tax exemption on fuel used in test flights. To qualify, a company would have to bring at least 3,800 jobs and at least $750 million in investment to the state over seven years.

The measure, which does not reference a specific company, was OK'd by a committee and then passed 44-0 by the full Senate. It now heads to the House.

The lawmakers meet as Boeing decides where to site a second assembly line for the 787 airliner. Everett, Wash., also is competing for the facility.

Even though it will affect some of my family members, I wont miss them at all. Renton hasnt had any problem with Boeing moving out. They are generating much more tax revenue from all the other business that are now on the old Boeing property.

Wa will be better off without Boeing. Cleaner air, cleaner water, less cars, less traffic, less commuters on transit system. The only down side is n oway to pay for all the projects going on now. But no worry Queen Gregwore and the other Dembs will come

Considering the anti-business climate and the unreliable union labor in Washington, why would Being want to stay?

Having grown up in SC - I guess the bright side is you could sell a beat up rambler in Western Wash. and move into a mansion in that housing market. But then, there are those 3-4 nightmarish months/year called "summer" you have to live through.

If you work for Boeing i suggest you put in your transfer and start looking for a house in S.C. It is our state government and especially the machinist unions that have caused this. You idiots striked your way out of a job!

I'm sure Boeing will stay, because Gov. Gregoire knows best and told them Seattle is a better place to do business.
