Two news organizations report Monday that Seattle police have identified three "persons of interest" in the fatal attack on Danny Vega.

Publicola and SeattlePI.com report that police are focusing on three men in their 20s with histories of conducting violent robberies. At least two of the men have a history of gang membership.

Both news organization cite SPD case documents.

Vega, a prominent figure in the city's Filipino American community, was taking an evening walk on Nov. 15  in Seattle's Rainier Valley neighborhood when he was attacked and beaten unconscious in an apparent robbery. Vega was hospitalized with severe injuries to his kidneys, liver and brain. He fell into a coma and died 12 days later.

Seattle police released surveillance footage in late November showing three men at the 4200 block of South Othello Street, near the attack of Vega happened about an hour after the assault.  Police say the three men appear to be throwing a jacket in the trash, and Publicola and SeattlePI.com both indicated that the video footage helped police identify at least one of the suspects.

Stay tuned for updates.
