STANWOOD, Wash. -- One of two critically ill twin brothers stricken with swine flu has died, according to local reports.

The Everett Herald reported Monday that Michael Wolfe, 31, died Saturday at Providence Regional Medical Center, where he was hospitalized.

Michael and his twin brother Steve became sick with swine flu in March and contracted pneumonia. The brothers lived together and did not receive a flu shot, their father, Don Wolfe, said.

My condolences to the family. I hope the other brother recovers. Ever since I got the flu about 9 years ago which took me down hard for about 3 weeks, I have always gotten a flu shot ever since. The year that the vaccine was in short supply in the US, I got one in Vancouver, BC. People that think they are dangerous or will get sick from getting the shot are uninformed and can end up paying the consequences. Please, no matter what you think about a flu shot, including the many myths about them, get your flu shot every year. Avoid being another fatality for something that can usually be prevented by such a simple and inexpensive thing as a flu shot.

Unless they worked around the elderly or chilren or immunosuppressed people they probably would not have required a shot....isn't that still right? Don't know Providence's stats re caring for swine flu patents, but I'd make sure you check those numbers out and not risk your second son's life. I'm new here but I know there are some hospitals who specifically have saved patients with the swine flu. Don't feel bad by checking them out on the Internet. So very sorry for your son's death, it's hard, I know. God's blessings.
