HOQUIAM, Wash. -- A Hoquiam teacher was arrested Wednesday for allegations that he sent sexual explicit texts to two 12-year-old girls.

Hoquiam police tell us that they learned about the text messages from the parents of one of the girls Tuesday.  The next day they issued a search warrant on the 41-year-old's home and work computers as well as his personal cell phone.

"The parents were very upset," said Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers, "I understand they pulled the girls out of school."

Police also tell us that the two victims were not current or former students, but rather the teacher knew of them from the community.

The Grays Harbor County prosecutor says he will decide Thursday morning if the man will be charged with any crimes.  In the state of Washington, communicating with a minor for immoral purposes on an electronic device is a felony.

In a written statement from Hoquiam Superintendent Mike Parker, the district considers the allegations "very serious."  The teacher is currently on paid administrative leave.

semily, I happen to personally know of several cases where charges against long time educators were completely fabricated and proven to be just that. But by the time the LIES came to light, the adult's professional and personal lives were left in shambles. Yes, the kids were 100% at fault! I'm not saying that is what is happening here, but don't you dare say that 12 year old kids don't know the difference between right and wrong! A child is NEVER to blame? BS! I've witnessed kids "playing around" on-line and "pretending" to be much older. Did this teacher think he was texting an adult? He could very well be innocent of these charges. If not, then by all means throw the book at him. You're mis-informed if you don't know there are some very "grown up" teenagers out there. I see it every day.

All of you who are downplaying this and writing things indicating that you really don't think it is such a big deal or worse yet, that these 12 year old girls might have some fault?! Give me a break! You are ignorant. This man is a 41 year old teacher and parent. These girls were manipulated and confused. A 12 year old doesn't have the emotional maturity to handle something like this which is why there are laws saying ADULTS can not have sexual contact with children. There is no circumstance or explanation that could make something like this ok. I happen to know more details about this case and this creep is guilty as sin and he did MUCH more than just sending a few questionable text messages. Two more girls have also come forward thanks to the first girl who found the courage to tell her parents. Thank God she did so that this POS can be stopped before he abuses even more innocent children. A child is NEVER to blame when something like this happens. Wake up people!

We've also all seen or heard of people making up identities on-line and in chat rooms. What if these 12-years olds were texting this teacher pretending to be 25 year olds? I'd love to see the content of their texts to him. If he's innocent, I hope he sues the parents for every dime they're worth. Lets see where the investigation goes...

We have seen 12 year old girls lie and teachers make some really bad choices. I would have to agree to many of the posts though, lets hear more before we jump to conclusions.

Appears some of you are ready to go get a rope. If this was a female teacher, and these were boys, half of you wouldn't be so upset.

The press shouldn't be allowed to comment on cases until they are over. False accusations and accompanying news stories can ruin an innocent person's life. I'm not saying this guy is innocent, but what if he is? Now everyone in this small town knows who this guy is regardless of his innocent or guilt. Nice job media, if this guy is innocent you should all write him a big check.

How did he get their phone numbers to send them texts if he had no contact with them? Interesting!

I find it amazing that you all are so quick to jump to conclusions on things like this. Social media is a disgusting monster that blows the slightest bit of news completely out of proportion. NOTHING has been proven yet. Who even says this is reliable. Just because something is put on the news, doesn't make it fact. Think about things sometimes. I do believe that if these ACCUSATIONS are true, then yes, that is inappropriate for a school setting, and the teacher's position should be terminated. But again, NOTHING HAS BEEN PROVEN. Also, if this is true, the students in question will receive no punishment. Neither will the parents of the students. Speaking as a teenager myself, when I was 12 years old, I would have known what I was doing was wrong. The parents obviously need to keep better track of their child. P.S. I am currently a student at HHS with the man in question as my teacher. I know this man very well, and I also have more than a media article to form my opinion on the matter

For those of you asking why he is on paid leave... It because they're still investigating. They have taken his computer and cell phone and will go through them. If/when they find incriminating texts, they will then charge him. Then he gets to have a trial (darned those constitutional rights!). He can't be fired until he is found guilty of committing a crime. It's called due process. I for one would like to have him castrated if he's guilty, but we'll have to let the justice system do it's thing. Consuela... blame this one on our American constitution, not the Unions.

Doesn't sound like the average revenge on the teacher case. Evidently neither kid was in his class. Still have to give him the benefit though. I could never be a high school teacher. Kids and parents will go to any level to ruin you.

Oh and skok_cush,, there is no reason for this guy to be texting 12 year olds period. If some 41 year old was texting my 12 year old I'd be a bit upset no matter twhat the content of the text was.

Maybe they are twelveteen,,, Hopefully they can determine rather quickly if this guy is innocent or guilty. If hes guilty fire hime on the spot and never let him go near twelveteens again.

too many "sky is fallings" IMO. Need to watch a few episodes of "Pretty Little Liars." And when a guy is found Not guilty, all there is is" OOps". Even tho the guy's life is now shattered, and his paranoid profession/community will never hire him again. I would also ask, was anything he said, any worse than the TV and/or Rap music Teens listen to for the past 10years or so? bet if you check the kids Internet History's, they are no little Saints either.

i would imagine that he is on paid leave because he's not yet been proven guilty; if they outright fire him and then is not found guilty he would have grounds for an unlawful termination suit. there are too many crimes against children (and too few penalties) these days.

Can anyone who really knows answer my questions..Why is this teacher on paid administrative leave?? Is it because of their Union? and if so...another reason why Unions are not always the best way to go..

After dealing with this as the mother of a teen, with the administrator later being terminated, I need to send a message to the school district: FIRE HIM! This behavior is inexcusable and permanently damaging to these young girls.

I'm sorry, but 12 year olds are not teens... If they have proof of this, he shouldnt be put on paid leave.
