BELLEVUE, Wash. - A group of Canadian pharmacists is jumping on a
growing trend. The group is unveiling a new online system for Americans
who seek cheaper drug prices north of the border.
In Bellevue, seniors are talking about the need for the service.
So-called "drug runs" have become a bitter reality for many seniors. They take buses, cars, vans or just drive up to Canada to buy U.S. drugs at huge savings.
"But it's getting hard for me to drive up there," said Irene Eskenazi.
RXCanada4less.com, a Canadian Web site, offers the same low prices through the Internet or over the phone. It's all legal and the drugs are perfectly safe.
"Well the standards in Canada are the highest in the world," said Marvin Nider, Canadian pharmacist. "Most of the drugs come from American companies that own subsidiaries in Canada. And the generics are passed by our health protection branch, which is the equivalent of the Food and Drug Administration."

The group's Web site lists all the drugs available and price comparisons for some of them. You can check their prices against U.S. prices. KING 5 News did a comparison and while our checks turned up lower U.S. prices than the Web site lists, you can still see there can be significant savings by buying from the Canadian group.
