OLYMPIA, Wash. -  The Washington Health Department believes many children in the state are exercising more and eating better.

A survey in schools last year shows that obesity rates have not gone up since the 2008 survey. About 10 percent of eighth, 10th and 12th graders are obese.

The survey found kids are drinking less soda. The rate of drinking two or more sodas a day has dropped by half since 2002.

And, in the past two years, about 35,000 more young people have met the physical activity guidelines of 60 minutes a day, five days a week.

More than 212,000 students took the 2010 Healthy Youth Survey. It's given every two years to track health behaviors and attitudes.
