Whooping Cough (Pertussis) is at epidemic levels in Pierce County so the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department is offering a free Whooping Cough Immunization Clinic this Saturday, April 28, from 9 am to 2 pm at the TPC Health Department on South 'D' Street.  Free children's immunizations will be available.

Whooping cough immunizations are recommended for all children and adults.  Children under seven should get a series of five DTaP vaccinations.  Children aged 7 to 10 years who are not fully vaccinated against whooping cough and everyone aged 11 and older should get Tdap vaccine, the whooping
cough booster.

Adults who have contact with babies should be vaccinated to help protect babies.

Adults who need this immunization are asked to either go to their medical provider or stop by the health department.

More information on whooping cough disease and who should be vaccinated is available at www.doh.wa.gov.
