At the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Dr. Jim Olsen's new technique of "tumor painting" is showing great promise.
Using the venom from a type of scorpion that clings to cancer cells and nothing else, Dr. Olson has invented a way to help surgeons see where a tumor begins and ends by illuminating the cancerous cells.

- Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patient Roger Sweet is part of a study headed by Dr. Ajay Gopal, who is working with radioactively tagged monoclonal antibodies to deliver high doeses of radiation to tumor sites, sparing the surrounding organs.
- Breast cancer patient Lisa Cigliana, who is part of a clinical trial for partial breast radiation called "brachytherapy," or radioactive seed implants.
- Colon cancer survivor Tiffany Heigle, who was diagnosed at age 33. Now 41, she is cancer-free due to sucessful surgeries and a cocktail of drugs.
Good news is here and even more is on the way, with many advances being developed right here in Seattle.
