A new study adds to the body of evidence that eating a lot of charred red meat increases the risk for developing bladder cancer.

Researchers followed nearly 1800 people for 12 years. Those with diets highest in steak, pork chops and bacon were most at risk and eating them well-done increased those odds even more.

Researchers found genetic variants in some people also played a role.

The MD Anderson Cancer Center conducted the study.
