Researchers in the United Kingdom report they have discovered the so-called "obesity gene."
A new study shows the gene can make fatty foods more tempting and elevate levels of a hunger hormone called ghrelin that can lead to people eating too much too often.
It's believed one in six people carry the gene.
It appears eating a high-protein meal can lower levels of the hormone as well as certain forms of exercise such as cycling.
A study is published in the journal of clinical investigation.
