Saying “I do” could save your life.

A new study done by researchers in Finland found married people had about 60 percent fewer heart attacks than their unmarried peers, no matter their age.

And among those who did suffer a cardiac event, married men and women were significantly more likely to survive, especially among middle-aged couples.

Researchers say more studies are needed, but they speculate that married couples have better overall health and social support and many times can get help faster than those living alone.

The study is published in the European Journal of Preventative Cardiology.
