The FDA wnts tighter regulations on public defibrillators to make sure they work when you need them.

Since 2005, there have been about 45,000 reports of problems or failures involving public defibrillators as well as 88 recalls. It's unknown if these failures caused any deaths.

There are now about 2.4 million AED's in public places across the country.
