With hundreds of skin and hair products out there and new ones appearing all the time, how do you choose? Self magazine has taken some of the guesswork out by having a thousand readers test and rate the latest products. Here are this year's top picks.

Self magazine asked readers to test over a thousand new hair, skin and cosmetic products and rate them based on things like texture, color and ease of use.

"We tested every price range, so it ranges from $2 to $125,” says Self Magazine Beauty Editor Elaine D'Farley.

D'Farley says the winning bath salts by Dr. Dennis Gross are like a smoothie for your skin.  For your face, try Dr. Murad's facial mask.

“The mask contains pomegranate, which is a fruit acid, which will help dissolve debris and clear your pores and make your skin look brighter,” D'Farley says.

Clinique's Dark Spot Corrector can help too.  If tired eyes are your problem, try Lancome's eye gel. For bags and wrinkles, try Neutrogena's anti-aging system.

“It’s a clinical treatment system. There were a lot of kits on the market this year, and what we found is people loved this particular kit because it has everything in it from eye cream to SPF,” says D'Farley.

For makeup, readers like the best brow kit by Clarins and Sephora's tinted moisturizer.

“I liked that the product dried very smooth and it wasn’t cakey and it just looked very natural and dewy,” tester Katherine Bellando said.

Revlon's luxurious color eye shadow won for its velvety texture.  For sky-high lashes, the favorite was Wet n' Wild. And for pink cheeks, Benefit's Sugar Bomb Blush was the winner.

“And it’s a kaleidoscope of pink and bronze and you swirl it together and you dab it on your cheeks and it looked great on every skin tone,” according to D"Farley.

And you can take it all off with Physicians' Formula makeup remover towelettes. And for hair, readers liked soy renewal by healthy sexy hair.

The magazine also lists winners for things like lipstick, cleanser and moisturizer. To see the complete list of winners, visit
