Swedish is inviting more than a dozen people to become heart surgeons for a day.
On February 5, participants will get a chance to scrub in with Swedish cardiac surgeons. They will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Swedish Heart and Vascular Institute, examine a human heart and learn heart surgery techniques.
Swedish says the goal is to give the community a better idea of what cardiac surgeons do, and raise awareness about heart disease prevention and treatment. Heart disease affects one in four Americans. February is also American Heart Month.
People must be at least 14 years old to apply for the event. Swedish will select up to 15 people to participate.
All entries must be submitted online to Swedish by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, January 19. The event takes place on Wednesday, February 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
People can follow the event live on Twitter via @Swedish and #SwedishDoc4Day.
