AIDS used to be considered a death sentence -- but a man seems to have been cured of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Now he's working to cure others too.
Timothy Ray Brown, a Seattle native, is known as "the Berlin patient" after the city in which he received treatment to cure his HIV. Brown joined KING 5 Morning News on Wednesday with Dr. Keith Jerome, an AIDS researcher from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, to discuss developments in HIV and AIDS research and the science behind it.
On Wednesday night, Brown, Dr. Jerome and other researchers from Fred Hutchinson will be at Seattle University for a moderated panel discussion at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Visit the event page for more information.
