Procrastination is in the genes, according to researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

In a study published in the journal Psychological Science, researchers surveyed 181 identical twins and 166 fraternal twins about their ability to set and maintain goals, propensity to procrastinate and impulsivity.

Based on the behavioral similarities, the results showed procrastination can be inherited. Also, researchers suggested that procrastination and impulsivity stem from similar evolutionary origins.

Researchers are now studying how procrastination and impulsivity influence other aspects of self-regulation in our day-to-day lives.
