When Cheryl Stumbo was recovering from the shootings at the Seattle Jewish Federation, one of the hardest things for her to do was keep on top of her medication.

"Even today, It's almost four years later and I still have pills that I need to take and it's the same time everyday and, but different drugs and you get into the habit of taking them and then you can't remember ... did I take it?" she said.

"We've all had that problem of forgetting to take our medication. The challenge of course we experience is what do we do next? Do we risk taking another dose or do we risk missing a dose at that point?" said Richard Burke Jr., RX Timer Cap LLC.

The RX Timer Cap could change all that. It works like an LED stopwatch, counting how long it's been since your last dose. Take the cap off, put it back on and it automatically resets and starts counting again.

"It's foolproof. There's no alarms to program, no buttons to press, nothing to have any kind of error on. The cap then can work on any medication," said Burke.

Bartell's is the first local drugstore to use the new time caps. Batteries last about a year.

"When it was presented to us, we saw it as a opportunity to help patients with compliance and compliance is very important when it comes to taking medication," said Carol Carnahan of Bartell's

Bartell Drugs will officially launch the caps on Wednesday.

For this week only, you can get the timer caps free at Bartell's with a new or transfer prescription at or buy the caps separately for $3.49. Or you can order on-line direct from the company for $5. For more information visit www.rxtimercap.com

Shouldn't be any liability. People should take responsibility for their own lives and actions, instead of looking for other people to assign responsibility to.

Pretty cool idea, but I wonder what their liability is when the timer malfunctions.
