New research shows that the number of fit-friendly worksites in Puget Sound has more than doubled in the last two years.

Naturopathic physician Gail Buquicchio joined KING 5 to talk about ways that work places can encourage employees to get fit.

Buquicchio helped provide KING 5 with resources and information to make it a more fit friendly worksite. She worked with the wellness team to offer yoga classes and post friendly nudges about taking the stairs.

The American Heart Association sponsored a fit-friendly worksites mentorship program in 2012 to provide resources to workplaces and encourage healthy activity in employees. There are three criteria for its fit friendly recognition program: physical activity, nutrition and healthy culture.
