Patients with severe cases of deep vein thrombosis can be treated with the Ekos System. It's a medical device that can be inserted into a patient's veins to deliver clot-busting medication.

While it's similar to other catheter devices, the Ekos has the added advantage of ultrasound vibrations that make it easier to dissolve life-threatening blood clots.
